Relation Between CPT Violation in Neutrino Masses and Mixings

The neutrino parameters determined from the solar neutrino data and the anti-neutrino parameters determined from KamLAND reactor experiment are in good agreement with each other. However, the best fit points of the two sets differ from each other by about 10⁻⁵ eV² in mass-square difference and by about 2° in the mixing angle. Future solar neutrino and reactor anti-neutrino experiments are likely to reduce the uncertainties in these measurements. This, in turn, can lead to a signal for CPT violation in terms a non-zero difference between neutrino and anti-neutrino parameters. In this paper, we propose a CPT violating mass matrix which can give rise to the above differences in both mass-squared difference and mixing angle and study the constraints imposed by the data on the parameters of the mass matrix.     

First structural characterization of core modified 10,15-meso aryl azuliporphyrins: observation of C-H...pi interaction between pyrrole beta-CH and mesityl ring

First successful syntheses and structural characterization of new core modified meso aryl azuliporphyrins by a simple [3 + 1] methodology are reported.     

Dynamic multiscaling in turbulence

We give an overview of the progress that has been made in recent years in understanding dynamic multiscaling in homogeneous, isotropic turbulence and related problems. We emphasise the similarity of this problem with the dynamic scaling of time-dependent correlation functions in the vicinity of a critical point in, e.g., a spin system. The universality of dynamic-multiscaling exponents in fluid turbulence is explored by detailed simulations of the GOY shell model for fluid turbulence.     

Black holes in brane worlds

A Kerr metric describing a rotating black hole is obtained on the three brane in a five-dimensional Randall-Sundrum brane world by considering a rotating five-dimensional black string in the bulk. We examine the causal structure of this space-time through the geodesic equations.     

Investigation of phonon anomalies in intermediate valence compounds SmS and Sm0·65Y0·25S

Phonon anomalies in two intermediate valence compounds (IVC), SmS and Sm_0·75Y_0·25S have been investigated using breathing shell model (BSM). The BSM includes breathing motion of electron shells of the rare earth atom due tof−d hybridization. The phonon dispersion curves of IVC, calculated from the present model, agree well with the measured data. One-phonon density of states calculated from the present model compares well with the Raman spectra.     

Synthesis of 2-deamino- and 2-deamino-2-nitroactinomycin D

A single step synthesis of 2-deaminoactinomycin D ( 3a ) and 2-deamino-2-nitroactinomycin D ( 2a ) arising from actinomycin D ( 1a, AMD ) is reported. Structural confirmation was made by nmr, ir and chemical conversion to known materials.     

Static,anharmonic and phonon properties of ND4I

A detailed investigation of the phonon dispersion and static and anharmonic properties has been carried out for ND₄I using an extended three-body force shell model (ETSM) developed by Singh and Chandra. The ETSM results for phonon dispersion show better agreement with the experimental data than those obtained from the deformation dipole and rigid shell models. Calculated values have also been obtained for some other properties.     

Kinetics of oxidation of hypophosphite ion by Au(III) in hydrochloric acid medium

Hypophosphite ion is oxidised by Au(III) in aqueous hydrochloric acid to give phosphorus acid and Au(I). The kinetics of the reaction has been studied spectrophotometrically in the UV region at different temperatures. The oxidation of hypophosphorous acid is first order with respect to both Au(III) and substrate. Hydrogen ion has no effect on the rate in acid media (0.15–1.0)M. The energy and entropy of activations are 128 ± 3.0kJ mol^?1 and 135.8 ± 6.5 JK^?1 mol^?1 respectively. The results are interpreted in terms of the probable formation of intermediate Au(lI).
